Recording at the most usual Places

Taping Home Vol. I

The Love Songs is Sven Swift. This is my new record.

It’s a collection of chosen Field-Recordings, carefully edited but pure and without “musical” treatment. I intended to create an aural fingerprint of my surroundings- which is quite another point than recording at the most unusual places. Furthermore, a focus on ambient/ drone/ minimal-sources is applied. I tried to find a balance between academic recordings (first half) and a rather emotional approach (tracks three and four). Download the whole set of files in lossless FLAC-compression (126MB) here. If you prefer MP3-files, switch over to last.fm.

“Daneben”-Festival Photostream w/ Tupolev

Alexandr Vatagin of Tupolev plucking the bass-guitar

A beautiful set of photos from the live shows at the ((szene))-club can be viewed at David Murobi’s website. Next to Tupolev, there are atmospheric pictures of The Ghost & The Band and The Unknown Lovers who both shared stage with our favorite Vienna Jazzrockers. The Daneben-festival (maybe translated as “Off-Key Festival”) took place the fourth time and dares to support the underground for “Remote Music in Austria” (“Kleines Festival abseitiger Musik aus Österreich”). Good luck for next year!

PS: Talking about Tupolev, don’t forget to check the Last.fm-stream of their upcoming album “Memories of Björn Bolssen”

Tupolev Large

Alexandr and Peter of Tupolev launched a new label: Valeot Records. They are going to sell CDs and vinyl-records, starting with a special LP-version of the latest Port-Royal record “Afraid to Dance“. Soon after, the new Tupolev-album will be available. The guys released their debut-EP at 12rec. way back in 2005 and have been refining their experimental Folkjazz ever since then. The album’s entitled “In Memory of Björn Bolssen” (referring to the well-known Scandinavian Avant-gardist) and it’s streamable at Last.fm already. What are you waiting for?
