Just Another Genius: Nicolas Bernier

In concert with Simon Trottier, Nicolas Bernier provided one of the most astonishing, most beautiful, most adventurous 12rec.-releases. Probably many of you remember “Objet Abandonne En Mer” . The guys were quite active during the last year, working hard to bring “Objet” to stages around Montreal. But Bernier’s musical output is far more versatile. In close cooperation with his own Ekumen collective and No Type Netlabel, several records had been published before. Now, two new records are available for download and CD-purchase.

Worst Case Scenario

Argh! Filled up with finest handmade CDRs, I tried to send this huge package to Vienna, Austria. It came back today. I paid 17 bucks for the initial shipping and had to give out an additional amount of ten Euros to get it back. Argh! Did I mention that I HATE this shit? WCS.

MC Lunte & DJ V.Raeter of Sichtbeton at ideology.de

Two years back, German Netlabel ideology released a tight compilation of Cologne-based Hip Hop-artists entitled “Colonius Monk Collective“. Lunte, MC of Berlin Rap-duo Sichtbeton (see 12rec.010 and .018 for reference), studies film in Cologne and has been a part of this first sampler. Now, ideology just released “Colonius Monk Collective II” for free download. And it’s not only Lunte holding the mic this time, you can also catch DJ V.Raeter for some fresh beats. Yeah! My favourite is track “Medikamente” with fabulous raps by Lunte and Gringo Starr of the Broke Gringos.
